The Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores of Iowa (PMCI) represent independently owned and operated businesses in nearly every community throughout Iowa. Our members are fuel wholesalers, retailers, transporters, travel plazas, car washes and convenience stores. They handle approximately 80% of all diesel and 70% of all gasoline sold in Iowa.
IOWA MOTOR FUEL LABELING
PMCI supports changing Iowa’s motor fuel labeling laws to be consistent with new federal regulations for mid- and high-level ethanol blends of fuel. Currently, state and federal regulations conflict, exposing Iowa retailers to criminal fines and potential liability for consumers who improperly fuel a vehicle.
PMCI supports Iowa’s current UST program administration to remediate contaminated soil. Any unobligated UST funds should be used to further protect the environment from contamination by assisting retailers with the costs of installing of infrastructure capable of handling modern fuels.
STATEWIDE MINIMUM WAGE
PMCI supports adoption of a statewide minimum wage that preempts local requirements and permits a separate wage for younger workers.
PMCI supports replacing the current bottle and can redemption program with a more efficient, safe, and economical recycling program.
