Industry Awards and Recognition

PMCI along with others, recognize leaders, innovators and community volunteers through various industry awards. We honor these individuals or organizations for their dedication, service and outstanding performance  with either the Bucket Box Award, Employee of the Year, Fuel Assist Award or Renewable Fuels Award.

2015 Bucket Box Award to Alan Hillgren

The coveted Bucket Box Award given by the Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores of Iowa (PMCI) was presented to the family of Alan Hillgren at the PMCI Annual Convention in Coralville recently. Hillgren had been a past board member of PMCI and a leader in the petroleum industry for more than 40 years.

This award was presented posthumously and was accepted by Hillgren’s family including his wife, Carla, and daughters, Angie Capps, Crystal Kirkpatrick and son, John Hillgren, with many other members of the family and Seneca Companies in attendance as well. Dawn Carlson, President and CEO of PMCI, made the presentation and Darren Binning, a colleague at Seneca Companies, added comments about Alan’s notable contributions to the industry he loved. “Alan is so deserving of this award. He was a leader in our industry for so many years, and touched so many lives. He gladly shared his knowledge with others, while helping to grow the company he loved working for,” said Carlson. 2015 Fuel Assist Award to Adam and Kelci Smith

Adam and Kelci Smith, owners of Guppy’s On the Go convenience stores in Cedar Rapids received the PMCI Fuel Assistance Award at the recent convention in Coralville.

The award is given annually to recognize petroleum marketers for their efforts in improving accessibility at their business locations. Recently, Guppy’s On the Go installed fuel call buttons at their gas pumps. Now elderly citizens and others with physical disabilities can receive personal assistance with fuel pumping and grocery purchases without ever having to leave their vehicle. Guppy’s On the Go was a leader in Cedar Rapids and surrounding areas to provide this service, resulting in a loyal following of customers who desire their excellent customized service.
